Ikkanbari Object Bowl
Description
This piece is made using ikkanbari, a traditional Japanese technique in which layers of washi paper are applied to a bamboo form by hand.
In the process, kakishibu — fermented persimmon tannin — is used as an underlayer beneath the washi paper, a method traditionally employed to strengthen the structure and create depth within the surface.
Through repeated layering and handwork, subtle textures and tonal variations appear.
These marks reflect the making process itself, giving each piece its own presence.
Designed to be used as a tray or appreciated as an object,
this work brings Japanese craftsmanship into everyday space.
Each piece is handmade in Japan, one by one.
