About Us

AOGAKI WORKS is a craft brand rooted in Nara, Japan.

Our work is shaped through two creative approaches.

Aogaki Koubo represents the long-established Ikkanbari practice developed over many years by our family, rooted in traditional Japanese handcraft techniques and materials.

Aogaki Craft Studio explores a more contemporary expression of washi-based craft, incorporating modern sensibilities, textures, and materials while remaining connected to the quiet beauty of Japanese craftsmanship.

Using materials such as bamboo, Japanese washi paper, kakishibu, and other natural materials, we create works designed to live naturally within contemporary spaces and everyday life.

Each piece is carefully handmade, embracing the subtle irregularities, texture, and warmth that emerge through slow and thoughtful making.

Some works also incorporate contemporary coating techniques to enhance the visual depth and durability of the materials while preserving their natural character.

Rooted in Japanese craft traditions yet shaped with a quietly modern sensibility, our works are intended to bring a sense of calm presence into everyday spaces.

All works are created in Nara, Japan.

私たちの活動は、
二つの異なるものづくりの流れによって成り立っています。

青垣工房は、両親が長年続けてきた一閑張り制作を軸とし、
日本の伝統的な手仕事や素材を大切にした作品づくりを行っています。

Aogaki Craft Studioでは、
和紙をベースにした現代的なクラフト表現を探求し、
日本の工芸が持つ静かな美しさを残しながら、
現代の感性や空間に調和する作品を制作しています。

竹や和紙、柿渋、自然素材などを用いながら、
日常空間に自然と馴染む作品を目指し、
ひとつひとつ丁寧に手作業で制作しています。

作品によっては、
素材の風合いや質感をより美しく活かすため、
現代的なコーティング技法を取り入れることもあります。

日本の工芸技術に根ざしながらも、
現代的で静かな感性を通して、
暮らしの中に穏やかな存在感をもたらす作品を目指しています。
